The theme for Book Week 2023 is “Read, Grow, Inspire.” This concept encapsulates the transformative power of literature in a child’s life. Since 1987, the CBCA has been selecting a national theme for Book Week, accompanied by artwork created by a previous year’s CBCA Book of the Year Award winner. The theme serves as the centerpiece for various activities, displays, and celebrations during Book Week. Book Week 2023 is scheduled to take place from August 19th to August 25th , marking a week-long celebration of  all things literary. During this exciting period, schools, libraries, and educational institutions across the country will come alive with a range of engaging activities.
However, Book Week is so much more than just another school dress-up day; it is an annual celebration that encourages children to connect with books and reading on a fun, personal level. Chase the white rabbit down the rabbit hole, where you’ll find yourself at the Alice in Wonderland costume range, accessories and party supplies here at CostumeBox. In addition to awesome costume inspiration, Harry Potter can be used by teachers to put a creative twist on science, literacy, and HASS lesson plans. For example, the books can be used as creative writing prompts to get students to write their own stories set in the wizarding world or imagine new adventures for existing characters. Some schools may have rules about this, but in most cases, if your child is reading about their favourite movie, tv, or game character, then they should be able to celebrate their love of reading! This may be a great way to get your kids to read more by buying or borrowing from the library a book about a movie they love. Book Week in Australia is about celebrating books and encouraging kids to read. By completing book-themed activities, the kids get to bring to life the stories they're reading.
The Pack contents are developed in conjunction with the school to meet the teacher and students needs. Some people love to dress up and for those people, Book Week is like Christmas. But for others, the idea of pulling together a parade-worthy outfit will always be a challenge. So, if you need some costume inspiration, keep reading for some easy ideas that need little more than access to art supplies and your creative spirit. If your child has a favourite non-fiction book about dinosaurs, it’s the perfect opportunity to get them dressed up and thinking about what it would be like to be a prehistoric creature. Historical characters make another great option, whether  it’s a knight of the round table, a pirate, or a medieval princess.
Aside from being a great bonding activity, these questions will help your child get their head around the story and be better able to express their choice of character in class.
