CLC provides free legal advice and representation in the areas of consumer credit , debt recovery, banking, bankruptcy, insurance, simple contracts, and general fair trading and consumer protection. The service provide a specialist program for people who are experiencing, or have experienced, financial abuse. In May 2020, Housing ACT contacted all public housing tenants to check on their wellbeing, with an early focus on vulnerable tenants. These phone calls were also used to obtain current bank information for the prompt payment of the ACT Government’s $250 stimulus payment for households in public and community housing.
