Telephone counselling works in the same way as face-to-face counselling, but the sessions take place over the phone. While more people are now aware of the benefits of counselling, many can’t access face-to-face therapy because they have such busy lives. While we may now have the capacity to “see” more clients in a day be aware of the energy this takes, both emotionally but also physically, when deciding your limits. The current health crisis means many counsellors are considering taking their practice online for the first time. With online and telephone therapy where my chair is really isn’t relevant. As many hundreds of clients who I’ve worked with over the years also know, where they are isn’t really relevant either. Looking after your mental health doesn’t have to be complicated, either. Alongside visiting your GP and accessing NHS mental health services, there are also a great number of free online mental health resources which can be easily accessed from home at a time that suits you. It’s easy to forget, but your mental health is just as important as your physical health. And while the results of regular mental health and wellbeing care may not be as obvious as the physical transformation you might see from strength training at the gym,  for example, it’s no less valuable. These free online resources, covering everything from stress and anxiety to depression and sleep, are a great place to start.
