At the Founder’s Day Chapel Service, Pendennis Chapter Old Boys joined students and staff to celebrate our  anniversary. Inspired by our history, House Captains rose to the challenge of the annual Beat the Buzzer quiz, with Crowther House as ultimate victors. “There is no current risk to the staff and students with the management controls that are in place. The areas of contamination at the school are covered and not accessible,” according to a spokesman.
On a bumper day of rugby all 10 VSRU School 1st XV teams played on Finals Day plus the addition of The Hutchins School from Tasmania. The day kicked off with  Marcelin College taking on The Hutchins School in an Inter State Invitational match. After weeks of wintery weather we were blessed with warm summer weather for both days. Pool games were split over the 2 days with the U15s having Semi Finals while in the U17s the top 2 schools played off for 1st and 2nds. Liam Neveling comes to the program as a highly experienced South African professional as a player and coach with over 25 years of experience.

This was the first occasion within Australia that one school sent two category class teams to the World Finals. Thus, Brighton Grammar School has advanced to the World Final for this competition with Constellation. Brighton Grammar offers its senior students the Victorian Certificate of Education . The program BGS2032 was created by the school to mark where BGS would be at its 150th anniversary.
The last week has been a special week for our schools with our Year 7s and 10s working with their peers at Firbank. Anniversaries lead to opportunities for reflections – on our past and present and as a foundation for future planning. In this way, we can ensure we best prepare our boys with the skills they need for life beyond school. The 1st XVIII Football boys headed out to Wesley Glen Waverley to take on the winless Wesley College.

In comparison with many Independent Schools, Brighton Grammar is considered small in terms of enrolment numbers. I believe it is a great strength as our numbers allow a stronger sense of belonging and connectedness within year level groups, and ensures all boys are known across the School. A special welcome to Jack Reith and his family who commenced this term and to Louisa Bolton who will replace Victoria Fisher in 1 Heath and Susan Robertson who will replace Brittany Ellison in the 2 Waratah classroom.
The Prep – Year 6 House Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 20 October at Duncan MacKinnon Athletics track. There will be an opportunity for parents to join their sons for lunch at approximately 1pm. The boys had a wonderful experience and have shared many stories recounting their adventures. The highlight of the trip was spending time at our friendship school, Nguyen Sieu in Hanoi. The boys loved their time attending various classes including maths, science, global perspectives and traditional handicraft making.

All students are expected to uphold the School values and obey all School rules, policies, procedures and instructions from staff. Failure to meet these requirements may lead to disciplinary action  and may jeopardise the student’s ongoing enrolment at the School. Enrolment in the Swim School will automatically continue from term to term unless otherwise advised. Cancellations will be accepted within 7 days from the invoice issue date each term. Withdrawals outside of this timeframe incur an administration fee of $50.
We look forward to sending another group of Year 6 boys to Pormpuraaw later in the term. Heatherton Christian College is a very highly rated combined school in Clarinda, Kingston VIC. Gaming can have a positive impact on your child’s social life, providing opportunities to develop valuable social skills through interaction with other players. Monday was an important day as it allowed us the opportunity to promote and celebrate the rights of children by acknowledging World Children’s Day. Our overall focus in all of our Teaching and Learning Programs is to improve our boys’ understandings, achievements and to ultimately see growth from an academic perspective. A strong sense of connectedness was evident on Friday evening at our Family Fun Night. The big crowd,  made up of so many happy boys and families, the wonderful weather, the company of each other and the rides and entertainment made the evening a huge success.

Further details and booking information will be available via the BGS app early next term. This week the boys have enjoyed learning about the Winter Solstice as the longest night and shortest day of the year. Whilst I was disappointed to miss our recent lunchtime Instrumental Concert on Monday, I was delighted to hear the boys enjoyed performing. I am appreciative of the great work from our boys and staff and the continued support of all parents. Best wishes for the break, enjoy being out of the school routine  and to those who are travelling, keep safe. I was very proud to see the quality and genuineness of the interaction between young Australians of such diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

Brighton Primary School is a very highly rated primary school in Brighton, Holdfast Bay SA. The public school has 717 students with a student-to-teacher ratio of 1 to 15. This school could be doing a better job of supporting students academically who are from low-income families. This may be a sign that this school  is not bridging the student-achievement gap or that this school is taking in too few low-income students.
