If you have a group of 4 to 7 players who want to learn and improve together, we offer private classes at a time convenient to you. We offer both specialised and private golf lessons to improve all aspects of your golf game. Working with a qualified PGA Professional golf coach, you can focus on a specific technique that you find challenging or on multiple techniques over a longer lesson. For those interested in learning over a series of lessons, our packages are an excellent way to work through a practice plan toward your learning goals and save money. The project will see exciting new facilities established for both elite level and local recreational golfers.
Royal Melbourne's two current courses are known as the 'West' and 'East' courses. The West course was designed under the strict standards of famous course architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie. He visited the eventual site, located on the renowned Melbourne Sandbelt, south of the city, in 1926. The actual building of the West course was overseen by the famed Australian public golf courses near me golfer Alex Russell, as well as the head greenkeeper Mick Morcom; it was completed for play in 1931, and required much clearing of forested land. The East course was designed by Alex Russell, and was completed in 1932. Its two courses are each ranked amongst the best in the world by many international golf course ranking bodies and publications.

The Club conducts a mixed competition every Saturday morning, with members hitting off from first light until mid-morning. There is a separate ladies competition on the third Saturday of each month. The Club's Saturday competitions are conducted in three grades with a prize for each grade. There are also prizes for nearest the pin on the 3rd and 10th holes.

There are slopes on all the holes which means there are no easy holes and can lead to frustration levels rising. We didn't reach the point of someone completely cracking a wobbly but got close to an eruption. Each hole has three levels of difficulty classified by easy, medium and hard. You are free to choice what level of difficulty to use and this can even change per hole if you like.
