It serves a large range of coffees, teas, mixed drinks, and a fine assortment of Belgium beers.
There’s a place in Donghe Township where the laws of gravity are broken. You will see a canal with water flowing upward, despite its uphill location. The stone tablet beside it says “miracle”, and you will surely agree with it. After witnessing 台東 伴手 the phenomenon, you can marvel at the seaside view. On the way there, you will discover different styles of architecture, including the medieval Siculo-Norman palaces, and other baroque buildings of great historical importance.

These are not just souvenirs — they are keepsakes to spark friendly conversations about the stage and theater. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Houli was organized as a rural township of Taichung County named Neipu Township. On 1 October 1955, Neipu Township was renamed as Houli Township. The majority of travelers who visit Taiwan never make it past Taipei. It’s a shame because as much fun as Taipei is, there are many cool places to visit around Taiwan’s capital city.

In the end, it mostly tastes the same and doesn't leave you feeling great the next morning . However, baijiu is a huge part of Chinese culture and Chinese business culture and bringing a bottle home is nice for those passionate about alcohol. The Chinese art of knotting is an ancient art that produces beautiful pieces. Whether you're looking for something small like a key chain or a bigger piece to hang up in your house, they come in all shapes and sizes.
When you travel above the Arctic Circle, you will be amazed to discover that the tundra offers few, if any, natural landmarks. Therefore, from ancient times, the local people, the Inuit, erected stone Inukshuk to act as landmarks along travel routes. These were used by hunters to find their way, directing them to good places where they could camp. In a way, Inukshuk also seemed to say “we were here” to those who came later. One of the saddest things I ever saw was a local family having a BBQ on a bridge on a small country road overlooking a beautiful stream valley. At the end of the meal, they packed up all their garbage in a huge plastic bag and threw it off the bridge into the stream far below.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Zhengqi and Bo’ai roads, this market is a great spot to grab souvenirs, try authentic Taiwanese food and get to know the local way of life. Dulan – To the north of Taitung on the coast, this little village has an abandoned sugar factory that hosts a vibrant artist community as well as a cafe and gift shop. Surfing is to be had at the rather secluded beaches from here on north if you have your own board. Best to just walk down the fruit night market , then continue on Zhonghua Road Section 1 until Jhongjheng Road, and finally northwest from there. This uniquely Taiwanese blend is still easily discernible in part because a lot of the recent advances in Taiwan’s economy have passed Taitung by.
We recommend you pick up a bottle of Kinmen 58% Kaoliang Wine at any liquor store, or at the airport on the way out. Just be sure to check you're not getting fake jade, which unfortunately many of the tourist shops tend to carry. Look for the government sponsored shops if you're buying expensive products, to be sure you're getting genuine jade. This precious stone is a beautiful shade of green, Taiwanese jade in particular is sought after around the world for its high quality. As you can find the real deal for much cheaper inside Taiwan than in other countries, it's a great idea to buy some jade related items as a gift or for yourself.

To get to the center from the train station, you can take a taxi, but it's much cheaper to take a bus. When you leave the station, turn right and follow the little rain shelter all the way to the end, buses to the city will have a sign that says 台東市區 and only cost $25 NT. Unfortunately, though, as of mid-2023, the station is closed and under renovations. So make sure to read the most recent reviews and find out if it has reopened yet before you make the trip out there. A few more famous Taitung attractions lie to the south of Taitung City.
